Guru Vidushi Smt. Sushama Shreyas

A Microbiologist by profession, Smt. Sushama Shreyas has personally experienced the joyful balance between an ardent commitment to academic excellence and a passionate commitment to dance. She seeks to instill in her students this balance between mind, body and soul. Known for her captivating abhinaya, Smt. Sushama is a Doordarshan artist and has performed extensively at prestigious Sabhas in India, Singapore and the U.S. She earned the coveted Vidwat degree in Bharatanatyam with distinction from the Karnataka Education Board, and went on to serve on the Karnataka Board Dance Examination Panel. Smt. Sushama was initiated into the divine art of dance by noted Sanskrit Scholar Smt. Anantalakshmi Natarajan of Bangalore and then received extensive training in the Pandanallur/Tanjore style of Bharatanatyam under Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee, Smt. Jyothi Pattabhiram of Sadhana Sangama, Bangalore, India.

Meera Mysore

Meera started dancing when she was 4 years old, beginning with Ballet and learning Bharatanatyam when she was 5 in India with her mother, Mala. After she moved back to Maryland in 2010, Meera continued to dance through high school, studying Ballet, Jazz and Tap. During her undergraduate education at UMBC, Meera minored in Dance while pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. She was also part of her University's athletic dance team and performed at basketball games. Meera co-founded and was captain of her school's only classical Indian dance team, Ishaara. After graduating, she moved back to New Jersey to pursue a scientist position in cancer research and started re-training under Guru Vidushi Smt. Sushama Shreyas. Meera is excited to be performing her Rangapravesham and finally begin her professional dance career. She has been extremely passionate about dance all her life and feels like this is the culmination of her dedication and committment to Bharatanatyam. For the last year, she has travelled back and forth between Maryland and New Jersey and has thoroughly enjoyed the journey of learning her Margam. Meera graduated from Drexel in 2022 with her Masters in Biomedical Engineering and Business and currently works as a scientist in Maryland. Apart from work and dance, Meera enjoys travelling, cooking, reading and spending time with her friends and family. She is grateful for all of the support she has received during this journey.
